Westphal, Carol (22 SEP 1962)

Miss Carol Westphal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Westphal, became the bride of Walter W. Klimpke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Klimpke of Athens, on Saturday, Sept. 22, 1962.

The Rev. Ferdinand Timler officiated at the marriage, which took place at 2 o’clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan.

During the ceremony, Mrs. William Denzine, accompanied by Mrs. Orville Barkow, organist, sang "O Perfect Love" and "Wedding Prayer."  Church decorations centered around bouquets of gladioli, mums and asters.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a bridal gown of Chantilly lace and tulle featuring a jewel trimmed Sabrina neckline, long sleeves and a Basque waist. The full hoop skirt was styled with a lace overskirt caught up to reveal a lace appliquéd tulle ? .  A scalloped lace border defined the hem which graduated into a chapel sweep.

The bridal headpiece was a pearl and aurora borealis crystal crown to which was secured a fingertip imported French illusion veil.  She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and white carnations with roses in satin streamers.

The attendants were Miss Beverly Westphal, a sister of the bride, and Harold Klimpke, brother of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frickenstein, friend of the couple, and Miss Ruth Klimpke, sister of the groom, and Donald Komarak, Athens, a friend.

The bridal attendants wore sleeveless hot pink street length formals, each styled with a scoop neckline, satin cummerbund and a fully gathered skirt furnished with a deep hem.  Headpieces were matched Dior bows, completed with face veils.

Each of the attendants carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations.

Following the ceremony, about 300 guests gathered at the Trianon Ballroom for a reception and dinner, followed by a dance.

The bride is a 1962 graduate of the Dor-Abby High School and the groom, who attended the Athens High School, is a milk hauler for Kraft Foods at Milan.  They will make their home at Athens.

Guests attending the festivities were from Chicago, Milwaukee, Willard Green Bay, Withee, Arpin, Dorchester, Manawa, Medford, new London, Edgar, Stratford, Schofield, Stevens Point and Wausau.
