Harris, Mabel A. (23 JUN 1884 - 1 AUG 1962)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred L. Harris of Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), who died Aug. 1, 1962, were held Saturday.  The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home until noon Saturday, and services were conducted at the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church at Dorchester at 2 o’clock.  The Rev. Harold Welch of Ash Creek and the Rev. S. E. Bushendorf officiated.  During the service, Mrs. Robert Keedy of Abbotsford and Mrs. George Edwards of Stetsonville sand "The Old Rugged Cross" and "When They Rang the Golden Bell."  Mrs. Paula Zimmerman of Colby was the accompanist.

 

Six grandsons served as pallbearers for the interment, which made in evergreen Cemetery, Medford.  They were Robert Harris, Dan Wigstad, James Rathenal, Ronald Baumgartner, David Krohn and Wayne Krohn.

 

The former Mabel A Penn was born June 23, 1884? at Coal City.  She received her education there and also attended the Medford High School.  When she was 16 years old she moved with her parents to Wittenburg.

 

On June 28, 1904, she and Fred Harris were married and they lived on a farm in the town of Medford.  Mrs. Harris lived in Dorchester the last 23 years.  For the past seven months she was in poor health and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reuben Vieth, at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday.

 

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Roy (Ellen) Pierce, Merrimac; Mrs. Arlie (Beatrice) Krohn, Athens; Mrs. Louis (Grace) Wigstad and Mrs. Reuben (Ethel) Vieth, Dorchester; and two sons, Linwood, Stevens Point; and John, Evansville; 25 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and two sisters.
