A complete obituary has just been received concerning F. W. Clark, former resident of this area who died January 23rd at the home of his step-son in Loretta, Wis. This is reprinted from the newspaper in Keithsburg, Iowa.

 

Relatives in the Keithsburg community were notified Saturday of the death of Francis W. Clark, 85, who died on Friday, Jan. 23, 1953, at the home of his step-son, Lacey Philpott, at Loretta, Wisconsin.

 

The body was brought to Keithsburg on Sunday and taken to the Stuebinger funeral home. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Keithsburg Christian church with the pastor, Harold Andrews, of Coldbrook, officiating at the rites. Burial was in Greenmound cemetery, Keithsburg. The pallbearers were Lee McCaw, Francis Endicott, Charles Clark, Clifford Clark, Henry Swank and Robert Watts.

 

Francis W. Clark was born in Keithsburg on March 22, 1867, the son of Daniel and Sarah Harrison Clark. He spent his boyhood and early manhood in and around Keithsburg, where he also received his education. He was an active member of the Christian church while living in this community.

 

He married Anna Robinson in Keithsburg in 1918,  and went to Wisconsin where he resided until his death.

 

Survivors include a son, James F. Clark of Iowa Falls, Ia., two brothers, Bert and Harry Clark, of Keithsburg; a step-son, Lacey Philpott, of Loretta, Wis., and a step-daughter, Alpha Herren, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and four grandchildren.

 

A son died in infancy and a foster daughter, Mrs. Katie Bruer, is also deceased.
