Koerner, Oscar C. #2 (9 SEP 1906 - 1 FEB 1962)

 

Funeral services for Oscar C. Koerner, who died Thursday, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the First Evangelical and Reformed Church, Colby.

 

The Rev. Carl Serr officiated at the services, during which Herbert Juneau was organist and sang "The Old Rugged Cross: and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.:  Interment was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Ed Weisenberger, Ed Maziewicz, Al Uhlig, Art Kumbler, Cecil Oehler and Clarence Kalepp.

 

Mr. Koerner was stricken with a heart attack at his home Tuesday evening, Jan. 30.  He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where death occurred Feb. 1, 1962, at 5:30 p.m.  He was 55 years old.

 

Oscar C. Koerner was born Sept. 9, 1906, in the town of Mayville (Clark Co., Wis.) and was education the area schools.  On July 18, 1928, he and the former Dorothy Untiedt were married in Colby.

 

They farmed in the Dorchester area, and Mr. Koerner was also a stock buyer for Oscar Mayer Co. in Abbotsford.  In 1955, he retired from farming and moved to the village of Abbotsford, where he continued as buyer for Oscar Mayer Co.

 

Mr. Koerner was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church of Colby.  He was a director of the State Conservation Department and was active in conservation activities.  He was also an active member of the Abbotsford Sportsmen’s Club.

 

He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Betty) Bloom, West Bend, and Mrs. Dennis (Carol) Feind, Abbotsford; a son, Donald, Dorchester; eight grandchildren, three brothers, William, Fontana, and George and Ervin, Curtiss; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Triester, Milwaukee, Mrs. Donald (Anna) Trowbridge, Milladore, and Mrs. George (Ella) Uhlig, Pittsville.

 

Relatives and friends who attended the funeral came from West Bend, Milwaukee, Madison, Fontana, Milladore, Edgar, Sheboygan, Walworth, Pittsville, Dorchester, Curtiss, La Crosse, Chippewa Falls, Ogema and Neillsville.
