Merz, Helen B. (1915? - 18 January 2011)

Helen B. (nee Wagner) Merz died peacefully at her home in Thorp, WI on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the age of 95.  Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert J. Merz, and her three sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her loving daughters: Nancy (David) Weaver of Cincinnati, OH, Kathleen (Jack) Gorski of Hubertus, WI, Melinda (Fred) Pizzo of Centerville, OH, and Elaine Merz of Thorp, WI.  She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren: Sharon (Kirby) Hamilton, Deborah (Bill) Cody, Jennifer (Dale) Peacock, and Jessica Gorski (Erick Persson); and her great-grandchildren: Tanner and Kaelyn Cody, Alexandra, Tess and Elanor Peacock, Nicolas, Sigmund, and Annika Persson.

Helen grew up in Cincinnati and married and raised her family there but moved to Wisconsin at the age of 85 to live with her granddaughter, Jennifer, who had taken on care of Helen’s handicapped daughter, Elaine.  This move is just one example of the commitment and devotion of this remarkable woman to her family members.  She is sorely missed by them and all whose hearts she touched.

A Mass of Christian burial took place at St. Vivian Church, 7600 Winton Rd., Cincinnati, OH on Monday, January 24, at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Willow Ridge Adult Day Care program (4266 State Rd. 29, Owen, WI 54660) for the benefit of Helen’s daughter Elaine.
