Fagan, Mary Elizabeth (7 March 1915 - 31 January 2003)

 

Mary E. Fagan, age 87, of Thorp, died at Victory Medical Center, in Stanley on Friday, January 31, 2003.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 3, 2003 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen, with Father John Puerner officiating and burial followed at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.  Pallbearers were: D. J. Fagan, Bradley Fagan, Chris Alger, Tom Weber, Jerry Weber, Canny Weber and Kurt Schneider.

 

Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday, February 2, 2003 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service, and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

 

Mary Elizabeth Weber was born on March 7, 1915 north of Dorchester, the daughter of Frank L. and Elizabeth (Elfert) Weber.  She attended St. Louis Catholic grade school in Dorchester, where she sang in the school choir and was a member of the Seniority club.  On June 1, 1937, Mary was united in marriage to Daniel R. Fagan.  They lived most of their life on a farm southwest of Withee, where Mary was a housewife and homemaker raising a family and helping with the farm chores.

 

While living on the farm, she enjoyed 20 years of fellowship with the "Good Neighborhood Birthday Club" and survived a disastrous tornado in 1969. They moved to Thorp in March of 1981, where Mary cared for her husband, Dan, until his death on October 10, 1993. She continued to reside at Morgan Plaza until the time of her death.

 

Mary was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, a member of Christian Mothers of the original Sacred Heart Parish in Withee, and later of Holy Rosary Parish in Owen-Withee, was a member of the Altar Society at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was chairman for St. Mary’s Circle for 2 years. She also enjoyed embroidering and quilting. 

 

She will be sadly missed by her three children: Larry (fiancé Bernetta Brown) Fagan, Dan (Cindy) Fagen and Elaine (Don) Kohn all of Withee; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Cletus (Bernice) Weber and Francis (Delores) Weber, both of Dorchester; one sister: Agnes Wilke of Marshfield; and a sister-in-law Marie Weber of Abbotsford.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six children: Joseph, Edward, Frank, Jerome, Dorothy and Bernice all in infancy; and two brothers: Joseph and Lawrence Weber.
