Wolfe, Erdreich (8 NOV 1870 - 20 SEP 1952)

 

Erdreich Wolfe, 81, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Saturday evening.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. E.E. Aalto officiating.  Burial was made in the Lutheran Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Adolph Gretzner, Ferdinand Gotter, Richard Gotter, Will Habhegger, James White, and Jake Henseler, Sr.

 

Mrs. Romaine Rossow sang "Heaven is My Home," "Let Me Go," and "Abide with Me."  Jeanne Nysted accompanied on the organ.

 

Mr. Wolfe was born Nov. 8, 1870 in Germany, where he received his education.  He came to the United States in 1892 and settled in Milwaukee.  For a few years, he traveled extensively through Mississippi, where he was employed in cotton fields, and in North and South Dakota, Minnesota, and northern Wisconsin.

 

He purchased a 100-acre tract of land and built a farm in the Town of Beaver, Clark County.  He then went back to Milwaukee, where on June 11, 1904, he married Emma Otto.  They returned to his farm and resided there until 10 years ago when they moved to Loyal.  Mrs. Wolfe died April 3, 1944.

 

Mr. Wolfe is survived by four sons, Alvin, Milton, and Arthur, Loyal; and Paul, Milwaukee; three daughters, Mrs. John (Erna) Fina and Mrs. Fred (Agnes) Padoon, Milwaukee; and Mrs. George (Margaret) Foelsch, Spencer; 18 grandchildren; and four brothers, Herman, Juneau; and Paul, Albert, and Reinhold, Hartford.

 

Two sisters and five brothers also preceded him in death.
