Zukowski, Louis #3 (22 APR 1889 - 8 AUG 1957)

 

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church here on Monday morning, Aug. 12th for Louis F. Zukowski, 68, who passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Ashland, Wis., on Thursday, Aug. 8th, 1957.  The Rev. Francis Piekarski officiated, assisted by Father Jerome Knopka and Father C. Chilicki.

 

Louis F. Zukowski was born in Poland on April 22, 1889.  He came to the United States in 1901 with his parents and they located north of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) about six miles, near Whipple Dam.  After two years his parents bout a farm in the Town of Taft where they lived until 1909 when they bought the store and tavern located three miles east of Thorp on Highway 29.  Louis continued the business after the death of his parents until he sold out two and a half years ago.  Since that time he had been living in a cottage at Lake Wissota and summer home at Iron River, Wis.

 

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Polish National Alliance and Roman Catholic Union.

 

His parents preceded him in death (mother in Sept. 1923, father in Nov. 1938), sister Emelia in June 1936, sister Jennie Nicman in March 1943, brother Gorge in Nov. 1951, brother John in April 1952 and sister Mary Jarocki in Sept. 1953.

 

He is survived by one sister, Tilly Zukowski of (Lake Wissota) Chippewa Falls, two brothers, Frank Zukowski of Chicago and Peter Zukowski of Thorp.

 

He was laid to rest in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.  Pallbearers were nephews, Robert, William, Felix B., tony and Jacob Zukowski, Kenneth Garfield and Louis Jarocki.
