The York Center Methodist church will commemorate the 70th anniversary of its founding at special worship services on Sunday, Aug. 28.

 

Pastor of the country church, seven miles south of Loyal is the Rev. Virgil Holmes, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Lee H. Holmes of this city.

 

At the 11 a.m. worship service the Rev. Paul White of La Crosse, will preach, and a male quartet is scheduled to sing. The Rev. Mr. White is a former pastor of the Methodist church in Neillsville and is well known in the York vicinity.

 

A fellowship dinner will be served at noon, according to an announcement made this week by those in charge.

 

The Rev. R.J. Fleming of Marshfield will preach at the 2 p.m. worship services, with the former pastors sharing in the service. There will be special singing and the reading of the history of the church.
