Cernik, Joseph A. (12 August 1885 - April 1960)

 

Funeral services were held for Joseph Cernik Monday at 2 p.m. from the Bergemann Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Holmes of the First Methodist Church officiating.  Burial was made in the Town of Levis Cemetery.

 

Mr. Cernik was born August 12, 1885, in Czechoslovakia.  He received his education there.  He was married to Anna Drazdil July 26, 1909, in Czechoslovakia.  Shortly after their marriage they came to the United States and lived in Chicago for four years.  In 1913 they bought a farm in the Town of Levis.

 

He is survived by his wife, Anna, and the following children: Mrs. Sydney (Mary) Kahn of Lake Geneva, Charles of Wisconsin Rapids, Jerry of Neillsville, Mrs. David (Rose) Sexton of La Grange, Ill., and Mrs. Harry (Sadie) Roden of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Earl (Tillie) Joul of Minneapolis, Minn.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers were: Elmer and Herbert Filitz, Louis Lautenbach, Art and Carl Opelt and Fred Subke.

 

The vocalist was Wilfred B. Galstad, and the organist, Miss Kathleen Galstad

 

Out of town relatives and friends attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Kahn and family of Lake Geneva; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cernik and family of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Emma O’Leary and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Fitzmaurice of Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. David Sexton and son of La Grange, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Roden and family of Chicago; and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Joul of Minneapolis, Minn.
