Swim, Arvalee (2 MAR 1957)

The altar of St. Agnes Church, Milwaukee, was adorned with carnations and roses as Rev. Kenneth Derfus performed the ceremony that joined Arvalee Swim, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Swim Sr. of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and William Iwanski, son of Mrs. Frank Iwanski of Milwaukee, in the holy bonds of matrimony at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, March 2, 1957.

Mrs. Irene Osinski, a cousin of the bridegroom, sang "Ave Maria" and "Panis Angelicus" during the ceremony as solos.

The double ring ceremony was performed in the presence of a large gathering of friends and relatives.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was very lovely in her gown of Chantilly lace over slipper satin made with long pointed sleeves and a Queen Anne collar.  A princess crown held her lace edged fingertip veil.  She carried a bouquet of white carnations and white roses.

Stella Olocki, friend of the bride, was maid of honor and Margaret Iwanski, sister of the groom, Linda Swim, sister of the bride and Gloria LaBelle, friend of the bride and groom, acted as bridesmaids.  They wore identical gowns of blue net with matching jackets and picture hats.

The gowns were strapless, sleeveless, fitted bodice style with scoop neckline and were floor length.  Each wore a pearl necklace, a gift from the bride.

Alois Iwanski, brother of the groom, acted as best man, and Daniel Konkol, Ronald Berliner and Larry Fitzworth were the groomsmen.  Each wore cuff links and clasps, which were gifts of the groom.

Mrs. Swim witnessed the marriage of her daughter wearing a light blue gold brocaded nylon dress and a corsage of white carnations and American Beauty roses.

Mrs. Iwanski witnessed the marriage of her son wearing a powder blue crepe dress and a corsage of white carnations and American Beauty roses.

Following the ceremony breakfast was served to about 100 persons and a reception and a 5 o’clock dinner was served to about 200 friends and relatives, with dancing and lunch in the evening.

The groom is employed by a die-casting concern in Milwaukee and the bride is a former graduate of the Stanley High School and is employed by the Allen-Bradley Co. in Milwaukee.

Pre-nuptial events included a shower and dance which was held in the American Legion Hall in Thorp on Feb. 23 and was given by relatives.

Out of town guests included friends and relatives from Amherst, Thorp, Colby, Stevens Point, Greenwood, Lake Geneva, Waukesha, Oak Park, Ill. And the Milwaukee vicinity.

The young couple are at home to friends and relatives at 3118 No. ?, 44th St., Milwaukee, Wis.
