Hansen, Harry C. (2 August 1886 - 27 January 1960)

 

Funeral services were held Saturday from the United Church of Christ for Harry C. Hansen, 73, of Humbird, who died Wednesday at his home in the Town of Mentor. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Hansen was born August 2, 1886, in Denmark, where he received his education.  He worked at various jobs as a young man, and following his marriage to the former Christine Johnson on October 15, 1908, at Denmark, the young couple homesteaded in North Dakota.  In 1913 they returned to Wisconsin and located on a farm in Price County.  They farmed until 1927, when they came to Clark County.  In 1953, they built a new home in the Town of Mentor, where they were living at the time of his death.  He had been in ill health for the past year.

 

He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

 

Surviving are his wife and the following 12 children: Mrs. Robert (Genevieve) Jackson, Greenwood; Melnard Hansen and Mrs. Sylvia White, Milwaukee; Leland Hansen, Granton; Mrs. Harold (Pearl) Prock, Neillsville; Orbert Hansen, Humbird; Mrs. John (Belle) Mazola, Neillsville, Mrs. Dewey (Evelyn) Walker, Fairchild; Mrs. Kenneth (Eleanore) Seelow, Milwaukee, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Mortenson, Neillsville; Everett Hansen, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Harvey (Lila) Light, Granton.  Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Stena Bates, Tigerton, and Mrs. Tom (Gertrude) Wanish, Catawba; two brothers, Herman Hansen of Denmark, and F. M. Hansen, Catawba; 49 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers were: Emery J. Hansen, Robert Hansen, Henry Hansen, Wally Wanish and John Wanish.

 

Flowers were carried by: Mrs. Earl Hansen, Mrs. Henry Hansen, and Mrs. Robert Hansen.

 

Two hymns "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Beyond the Sunset," were sung by Ellis Wall, vocalist, who was accompanied by Mrs. Marie Grether.
