Schmidt, Paul H. #2 (17 MAR 1877 - 7 OCT 1956)

 

Paul H. Schmidt, Sr., who had been ill for some time passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 1956 at the Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley where he had been a patient for a short time.

 

Mr. Schmidt, a retired farmer, who was born in Germany on March 17, 1877, had reached the age of 79 years.  He came to this country when 12 years of age, settling for a time at Joliet, Ill., where he was married on Sept. 20, 1900 to Anna Dulek.  He operated a farm southwest of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for many years, retiring less than a year ago when he came to make this home in Thorp.

 

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, Oct. 10th at 9:30 a.m. by Rev. Arnold M. Muckerheide and burial took place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

 

Robert Soeller, Raymond Baldeschwiler, George has, Alfred Kass, Raymond Ketterhagen and Walter Verkuilen served as pallbearers.

 

Mr. Schmidt is survived by hiw wife, Anna, and the following sons and daughters, George, Elk Mound, Wis., John, Thorp, Joseph, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Sam (Theresa) DeNucci, Cumberland, Wis., Mrs. Harold (Josephine) Engemoen, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Nina (Martha) Ceschini, Middletown, Conn.  He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  One son, Paul Jr., preceded him in death 8 months ago.
