Lawrence, Arlyn James “A.J.” (22 February 1956 – 15 June 2021) With Flag

Arlyn James “AJ” Lawrence, age 65, of Merrillan, passed away June 15, 2021, at Black River Memorial Hospital in Black River Falls.

AJ was born February 22, 1956, the son of Byrl Lawrence and Dorothy (Vanderhoof) Lawrence in Marshfield. He attended Marshfield Senior High and later earned his GED. On June 25, 1975, he joined the Army where he served until his honorable discharge on June 23, 1978. On June 3, 1976, he was united in marriage to Nancy Bloczynski at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshfield. They later divorced.

In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was always working on some project or another. He liked spending time at his land “Up North” and creating spaces for everyone to come and enjoy.

AJ is lovingly survived by his children: Tanya (Pat) Ponshock of Auburndale, Tara Ziaya (Matt Lang) of Marshfield, Josh (Rebecca) Lawrence of Eau Claire, Amy Lawrence of Janesville, Trina Grothmann (special friend); and his grandchildren: Marissa Ponshock, Alexander Ponshock, Jenna (Tim) Osowski, Carter Ziaya, Nolan Lang, Bree Lang, Anna Lang, and Grayson Lawrence; great-grandsons: Stryder Miller, Braydon and Bryson Osowski; siblings: Raymond (Marge) Lawrence of Marshfield, Rocky (Lavonne) Lawrence of Neillsville. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews. He will truly be missed.

AJ is preceded in death by his parents: Byrl and Dorothy Lawrence; as well as his brother: Alden Lawrence: and son: Aric Lawrence (in infancy).

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation Center: 1010 East Veterans Parkway in Marshfield.
