Burhop, Darlene Clare (Marriage - 15 August 1959)

Nuptial vows were exchanged August 15, by Miss Darlene Clare Burhop of Owen, and Robert Duane Zank of Neillsville, in St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church in Owen.  The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. Leve of Eau Claire.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Burhop of Owen, approached the altar on the arm of her father.  For her wedding she wore a "storybook" gown of floor length white nylon tulle over satin, with scalloped Chantilly lace forming a redingote style front.  Ruffles dramatized the back.  The fitted bodice, with long sleeves, was fashioned with a sequin trimmed scalloped neckline.

The billowing fingertip veil of French hand rolled imported illusion, with lace appliqués on the scalloped edge, was attached to a tiara of sequins.  She carried an arm bouquet of whie tea roses with small blue flowers scattered throughout entwines in attached white streamers.

Miss Carol Gollhardt of Thorp was her cousin’s maid-of-honor; and Miss Diane Burhop, the bride’s sister and Mrs. Barbara Shaw, sister of the groom, were bridesmaids.

They were attired in white velveray nylon over blue taffeta ballerina-length dresses. Their full skirts were fashioned with a cumberbund of blue taffeta, forming a large bow in the back.  They wore matching headpieces and carried arm bouquets of white carnations with blue ribbons laced throughout.

The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zank of Neillsville, was attended by the bride’s brother, Alan Burhop, as best man.  His groomsmen were Ronald Shaw and Donald Zank.  Ushers were Stuart Gerhardt of Owen and Paul Stasek, Jr., Owen.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, followed by a dinner in the church dining hall.

The bride is a graduate of the Owen High School with the class of 1959.  The groom was graduated from Neillsville High School class of 1957.
