Parkel, Mary Ann (Marriage - 1 August 1959)

Miss Mary Ann Parkel of Willard and Jerry E. Baird of Greenwood exchanged nuptial vows Saturday in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Fr. Aloysius Madic in Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.

Parents of the young couple are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parkel, Jr., of Willard and Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Baird of Greenwood.  Mr. Baird is chairman of the Clark County Board of Supervisors.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length dress of white dotted Swiss, tailored with a bow at the back, with the ties, forming a train.  A fingertip veil cascaded from a white embroidered crown headpiece. Her bridal bouquet consisted of white daisies and ivy.

Miss Donna Lee Babich of Chili was made-of-honor or her cousin.  Serving as bridesmaids were Donna Mae Baird, Joan Bergemann, and Joanne Miller, all of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Robert Kohler of Denver, Colo.

Richard Bergemann, cousin of the groom, served as best man.  Groomsmen were Robert Baird and Charles Vessel, Greenwood, and Frank Parkel, III.  Ushers were Louis Landrin of Willard and Dale Hokkanen of Lublin.

A sorority sister of the bride, Miss Pat Wenner of Rice Lake, was the organist.  She accompanied Judy Lamovec, who sang.

A wedding reception was held in the church hall, which was decorated with white garden flowers.

The bride, a graduate of Stout State College, has been teaching in the Thorp High School and this fall will teach in the high school in Port Edwards.  She is affiliated with the Alpha Phi International sorority. The groom attended Eau Claire State College and was graduated from Whitewater State College.  He is employed with an insurance company in Stevens Point.  His fraternity is Phi Chi Epsilon.
