Heiman, Francis Leonard (14 November 1921 - 3 October 2010)

Francis Heiman, 88, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at his home in the Town of Weston.

Francis Leonard Heiman was born Nov. 14, 1921, in the Town of Weston, Clark County, the son of Henry and Julia (Uhlenhake) Heiman.  He graduated from Neillsville High School and then began farming with his father.  He was united in marriage to Evelyn Bedell Oct. 15, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.  Francis eventually took over the daily operation of the family farm and he continued to farm there his entire life.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.  For many years he served first as clerk and then as supervisor for the Town of Weston.  His carpenter skills allowed him to build his own home on the family farm.  He loved to collect maple syrup in the spring and to go hunting with his family in the fall.

Francis was a very loving, caring, gentle man who never complained and was always willing to lend a hand to his family and friends.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to hear a good joke.  Most important in his life, however, was his family.  He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and was their biggest supporter in all they were involved with in their daily lives.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Ann (John) Faust of Marshfield, Mark (JaNell) Heiman of Neillsville, E. Katie (John) Ernst of Hortonville, Greg (Deanna) Heiman of Neillsville and Liz (Laverne) Gregorich, Jr. of Greenwood; grandchildren, Michael, Scott, Janel, Daniel, Matthew and Julia Heiman, Adam, Nathan and Thomas Ernst, Molly, Maggie and Max Heiman, Olivia and Elynor Gregorich; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Lexi, and Peyton Heiman and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Ralph; and six sisters, Fredolin, Adelaide, Viola, Virginia, Eleanor and Rita.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Francis will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Celebrant will be Fr. Woodrow H. Pace.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary Service, Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
