O’Brien, Kathleen J. (3 OCT 1951)

Miss Kathleen Joyce O’Brien and Herbert Rueth were united in marriage at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning, Oct. 3, 1951, in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, before the Rev. Norbert King.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James O’Brien and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rueth, all of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.).

For her wedding, the bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a satin gown styled with self-covered buttons down the back, snug-fitting bodice, and lace yoke topped with a round lace collar and sleeves that came to points at the wrists.  Her full skirt extended into a long train edged with lace and her veil of imported illusion was attached to a crown of pleated illusion and seed pearls.  She carried a cascade bouquet of white gladioli, red roses and white baby mums.

Miss Jayne Rueth, Loyal, the groom’s sister, was maid of honor.  Her gown was designed from chartreuse moiré taffeta featuring a fitted bodice, wing effect sleeves, and a full gathered skirt.  Her headpiece matched her dress and she carried a bouquet of yellow roses and yellow baby mums.

The bridesmaids, Mrs. Bernard Rueth, the groom’s sister-in-law, and Miss Darlene Wolfe, were attired in gowns of dark aqua and American Beauty rose moiré taffeta.  Their headdresses matched their gowns and each carried a bouquet of pink and white gladioli.

Patsy Jean O’Brien, Loyal, the bride’s sister, as flower girl, wore a white dress with blue trimming and carried a bouquet of roses and mums.  Jimmy Rueth, Wis. Rapids, the groom’s nephew, was ring bearer.

Patrick Rueth, Loyal, was his brother’s best man, and Robert Langfeldt, Loyal, the groom’s cousin, and Bernard Rueth, Wis. Rapids, the groom’s brother, were groomsmen.

Eddie Rueth, Loyal, another brother of the groom, and Frank Gleichsner, Marshfield, the groom’s brother-in-law, ushered.

Mrs. O’Brien viewed her daughter’s wedding attired in a blue dress with brown accessories, while the groom’s mother wore a tan suit with black accessories.  Each had a corsage of mums and roses.

A breakfast was served at the home of the groom’s parents where the couple greeted relatives and friends during a reception.  Dinner and supper were served in the church auditorium.  In the evening a dance was held in their honor in the Silver Dome Ballroom near Neillsville.

The bride and groom both attended the Loyal High School. When the newlyweds return from a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin they will reside on the groom’s farm three miles east of Loyal.
