Pratt, Blanche (10 JUN 1878 - 26 AUG 1951)

 

Mrs. R. M. Pratt, 73, died at her home Sunday, Aug. 26, 1951, at 7 a.m.

 

Mrs. Pratt, the former Blanche Woodworth, was born June 10, 1878, in Monroe County.  Her marriage to Ralph W. Pratt took place Sept. 19, 1903, at Black River Falls.  She received her grade school education Monroe County and attended the Normal School at Stevens Point.  She taught school for a few years.  They moved to Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) over 40 years ago.

 

She was a member of the Methodist Church.  She taught a Sunday School class for over 30 years.  She was a devoted worker for missionary causes and was instrumental in helping to start eh missionary work in her church here.  She was also the first president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, and served in that position for several years.

 

She is survived by her husband, a son, Sherrin, Union Grove; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Margaret) Chatterson, west Africa; Mrs. Calvin (Irene) Prior, Loyal; and Mrs. William (Rachel) Jess, Madison; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wade Woodworth, Evansville; and Wallace Woodworth, Cataract; and three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Printz and Mrs. Rachel Johnson, Cataract; and Mrs. Bess Nelson, Sparta.

 

A daughter, a sister, and a brother preceded her in death.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Pratt were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, in the Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee H. Holmes officiating.  Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers included Celen Gotter, Harold Hills, Ernest Baughman, Glen Oestreich, Clyde Grambsch, and Chris Oestreich.

 

The wives of the pallbearers were in charge of the floral arrangements.

 

Mrs. G. W. Nelson, Mrs. Ray Prior, A. D. Wicklund, and J. R. Colby sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Sweet By and By," with Donna Mae Gotter as accompanist at the organ.

 

Out of town people at the funeral services were Miss Abby Cobb, St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Scheel and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Prior and daughter, Irene , Mundelein, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson and family, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Printz, and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Woodworth and daughters, Cataract; Mr. and Mrs. William Jess and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnson, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Sherrin Pratt and family, Union Grove; Mrs. Virginia Rasmussen and son, Tomah; Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Nelson and son, Robert, Sparta; William Pratt and Robert Pratt, Black River Falls; Miss Gertrude Pratt, Shamrock; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Leach, Neillsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Wicklund and family, Nekoosa.
