Vick, Lorna Mae (16 JUN 1951)

Miss Lorna Mae Vick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Vick, and Virgil Holmes, son of Rev. and Mrs. Lee H. Holmes, all of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), were married Saturday, June 16, 1951, at 8 p.m. at the Loyal Methodist Church.  The groom’s father was the officiating clergyman.

The bride, who approached the altar on the arm of her father, was attired in an entrained white marquisette gown styled with fitted bodice and Chantilly lace yoke.  The pointed lace inserts in the front of the skirt tapered off into the train.

Rolled edged marquisette formed the fingertip veil, which was attached to a lace cap edged in pearls.  The bride carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid from which were suspended streamers of white stephanotis.

Miss Donna Treleaven, St. Paul, a friend of the bride, was the organist for the vocalist, Mrs. Michael Schachtely, West Allis, a sister of the bride, who sang "Since God Gave Me You" and "Precious Lord Take Our Hands."  The church choir sang "O Perfect Love."

Sunset rose taffeta with white marquisette overskirt was worn by the maid of honor, Miss Betty Miller, St. Paul, a friend of the bride.  The dress had a pointed portrait collar and fitted bodice and she carried a nosegay of roses, daisies, and stephanotis.

Similarly dressed in shell pink taffeta with white marquisette overskirts were the bridesmaids, Mrs. Larry Hagens, Eau Claire, and Miss Marjorie Holmes, Loyal, sister of the bride and groom, respectively.  Their nosegays were identical to the maid of honor’s, the streamers matching their dresses.

Orville Nysted came from Great Lakes, Ill., to serve as best man for his brother-in-law.  Groomsmen were Myron Fleming, Platteville, and Bob Cook, Unity, both cousins of the groom, and ushers were Ray Cook, Unity, another cousin, and Lyle Henseler, Loyal, a cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors.  After a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, the Holmeses will make their home in Milwaukee, where he will be employed this summer.  This fall they will go to Evanston, Ill., where the groom will finish his last two years of seminary.  The bride was employed as a registered nurse at Midway Hospital in St. Paul, the past two years.

She is a graduate of Loyal High School, attended eau Claire State College for one years, and was graduated from Mounds Midway School of Nursing.  Her husband was graduated from LaFarge High School, Hamline University in St. Paul, and now is a student at Garrett Seminary in Evanston, Ill.
