Sterling, Nedry Mr. & Mrs. (50th Anniv. - 22 Oct. 1960)
Mr. and Mrs. Nedry Sterling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday with all the children here for the occasion.
A 6:30 supper was served to the immediate families at the village hall where friends and relatives joined them later in the evening.
A double wedding ring cake decorated the tables, along with bouquets of yellow and bronze mums.
Mrs. Sterling was presented with a corsage made of a white orchid with gold throat.
Nedry Sterling and Elizabeth Brown were married Nov. 16, 1910, and made their home on a farm in the town of Holton. After retiring from farming, they lived east of Colby for a time, and about 18 years ago, came to Abbotsford. Mr. Sterling also worked as a carpenter.
The couple celebrated their anniversary early so all their children could be here.
The couple had six children: Lester of Woodburn, Ore.; Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Bemis, Ottumwa, Ia.; Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Elstrom, Highwood, Ill.; Mrs. Ernest (Marge) Schade and Mrs. James (Nila) Buss, of Abbotsford. One son, Melvin, was a casualty of World War II.
Mr. and Mrs. Sterling also have 15 grand children.
Mrs. Sterling has one brother, John Brown, of Abbotsford and two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Cora) Heida of Eau Claire and Mrs. John (Nell) Dusick of Boyd. Mr. Sterling has two brothers, George and Allen.
