Riehle, Leonard J. (21 Sept. 1902 - 3 May 1960)

 

Funeral services for Leonard J. Riehle, 57, who died Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s hospital, Wausau, following a heart attack, will be held Friday morning at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford, at 10 o’clock.

 

The Rev. Raymond B. Schulz will officiate and burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

 

A rosary service was conducted Wednesday evening at the Polnaszek Funeral Home where the body is lying in state.

 

Leonard Joseph Riehle was born at Athens, Sept. 21, 1902 and was educated at Athens. On Sept. 19, 1927, he and Elizabeth Salzman were united in marriage.

 

Mr. Riehle was a farmer and lived in this vicinity the past 18 years.

 

He was a former member of St. Bernard’s congregation and recently at St. Thomas’ Catholic congregation, Milan.

Surviving him are his widow and eight children, Wilfred, of Marathon; Mrs. Lee (Merceda) Smart, Colby; Donald and Miss Mary Jane Riehle, Wausau; Mrs. Leslie (Elizabeth) Kohl, Athens; Leroy, Abbotsford; and Clement and Leonard, Jr., at home at rural Colby; and two step-children, Mrs. Michael (Loretta) Drewek, Wausau; and Joseph Handrick, Athens.

 

There are 23 grand children and one great grand child.

 

He is also survived by two sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Harry (Emma) Gauerke, Wittenberg; Mrs. William (Katherine) Woellner; Pete Riehle, Anton Riehle, Joseph Riehle, all of Athens; Frank Riehle, Milwaukee, and Conrad Riehle, Wausau.
