Blanke, Fred (8 Oct. 1931 - 30 Aug. 1959)

 

Fred Blanke, Jr., was killed Sunday and his wife seriously injured when their motorcycle went out of control on a curve on Highway 51 and crashed through a fence near Watoria, Ill.

 

His wife, the former Vera Mueller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mueller, Abbotsford, was taken to St. Mary’s hospital, Streator, Ill., in serious condition. Mr. and Mrs. Mueller went there Monday and plans were made for moving her to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Wednesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Blanke were on their way to the national tourist trophy motorcycle championship races at Peoria when the accident occurred.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Blanke will he held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church, Abbotsford with the Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating. Burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

 

Fred Blanke was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Waukesha. As a youth, he lived in the town of Johnson. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blanke, live on Highway 29, eight miles east of Abbotsford. He is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school and was married Oct. 17, 1951. They lived on a farm east of Abbotsford for a time, then at Colby where he was employed by American Box Board Company. Three months ago, his company transferred him to Madison, where they moved.

 

Surviving him are his widow and his parents.

Funeral services for Fred Blanke, Jr., who was fatally injured when thrown from his motorcycle on Aug. 30, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at Christ Lutheran church with the Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating.

 

Pallbearers for the internment, made in the Abbotsford cemetery, were Lyle Bunkelman, Harold Goelden, James Lapp, Elmer Lueth, Allen Nienow, and Arthur Remus.

 

Flowers were carried by the Misses Barbara and Joyce Barker, Patricia Lapp, Shelly Mueller, Judy Weideman and Diane Weix.

 

Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral came from Colorado, Illinois, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Madison, Chippewa Falls, Mayville, Stratford, Withee, Owen, Edgar, and Wausau.
