Scheeler, Mary (6 Mar. 1885 - 11 Mar. 1959)

 

Mrs. Mary Scheeler, 74, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Grottke at Sauk City, where she had spent the past month.

 

Death, caused by a coronary thrombosis, occurred Wednesday, March 11. The body was brought to the Zink Funeral Home and lay in state there until Tuesday when funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock at Christ Lutheran church, followed by internment in the Abbotsford cemetery.

 

During the services, conducted by the Rev. F. H. Sprengler, the Misses Dorothy and Marilyn Kieser sang "Asleep in Jesus," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Herbert Juneau was the organist.

 

Pallbearers were grandsons: Harold Amacher and Ronald Graffunder, Abbotsford; Roger Marg, Schofield; Edward Scheeler, Cazenovia; James Scheeler, Hillsboro; and Arthur Schmitz, Memomonie.

 

Flowers were carried by five grand daughters, Mmes. Harold Amacher, Ronald Graffunder, Edward Scheeler, James Scheeler and Arthur Schmitz.

 

Among the relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Scheeler and Richard, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Scheeler and family, Cazenovia, Mr. and Mrs. William Grottke, Sauk City; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Behritz (?) and family, Mazonanie; Mr, and Mrs. James Scheeler and son, Hillsboro, Arnold Kelpin, Rochester, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. William Warleben, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gosse and Miss Minna Scheeler, Route 1, Abbotsford;

 

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krone, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nelson, Mrs. Arthur Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. John Blum, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Franz, Bloomer; Mmes. Ben Grottke, Lena Seidelman, Herbert Keller, Marie Keller and Hattie Meyer, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wiedenhoeft and Anita, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Graffunder, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Amacher, Mrs. Anne Amacher and Donald Vircks, Stetsonville; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Amacher and Mrs. Susan Amacher, Medford.

 

Mrs. Scheeler was born Mary Kelpin, March 6, 1885, in the town of Grant and  received her education there. Her marriage to Herman G. Scheeler took place at the Mapleworks Lutheran church at Granton in 1904. They lived at Abbotsford for a few years and then at Granton and returned here 21 years ago. Mr. Scheeler died here Sept. 19, 1950.

 

Mrs. Scheeler was a member of Christ Lutheran church. She took an active part in the work of the Ladies’ Aid and during all the years she lived in Abbotsford, she took care of the Communion service for the church.

 

Surviving are one son, Carl Scheeler, Cazenovia; three daughters, Mrs. H. J. (Gertrude) Amacher, Abbotsford; Mrs. William (Dorothy) Grottke, Sauk City; Mrs. William (Edna) Marg, Schofield; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grand children; one sister, Mrs. William (Emma) Warleben, Fond du Lac; four brothers, Paul Kelpin, Poyette, Idaho; Charles Kelpin, Grass Valley, Calif.; Herman Kelpin, Elk Grove, Calif., and Arnold Kelpin, Rochester, N.Y.

 

Preceding her in death besides her husband were two brothers and two sisters and one grand son.
