Campbell, Richard "Shot" (12 March 1955 - 17 August 2010)

 

Richard Campbell, 55, of Neillsville, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

Richard "Shot" Campbell was born March 12, 1955, in Marshfield, the son of Gordon and Melba (Boness) Campbell.  He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1973 and then worked at Nelson Muffler, Marshfield Homes and Kisslinger’s in Black River Falls.  He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Smith March 14, 1975; they later divorced but remained good friends.  In the early 1980’s he opened SureShot Auto Body, specializing in Corvette restoration.  He also worked at Dave’s Auto Parts.  In 1991, Shot opened SEC Auto in Neillsville.

 

A few of his many interests were classic cars, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia and a love of ships, especially the Titanic, and the sea.

 

He is survived by his girlfriend, Erika Kurasz; his son, Michael Campbell of Cypress, TX; and Katie, whom Shot thought of as his own daughter, (Andy) Aumann and their two children, Noah and Conn or of Eau Claire.  He is also survived by his mother, Melba (Boness) Campbell of Neillsville; three sisters, Diane (Dale) Northup of Marshfield, Judy (Mike) Blackwood of Marshfield and Pat (Ted) Carter of Arlington heights, VA, along with lots of nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Campbell, and friends, Tim Digoski and Kenny Krone.

 

A casual gathering to celebrate Shot’s life was held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gesche Funeral home in Neillsville.  At 4 p.m. Shot took his final cruise through town.

 

Honorary Casketbearers were: Jack Kluckhohn, the late Tim Digoski, Cliff Jennerman, Dustin Northup, Dale Olson, Steve Johnson, Larry Kosmosky and Roy Bieneck.

 

Casketbearers were: Michael Campbell, Mike Blackwood, Joe Holman, Ronnie Mazola, George Saylor, Ron Molini, David Northup and Duane Northup.
