South Pine Valley (12 July 1929)

A strong wind accompanied by a thunder storm struck this locality Friday night, breaking limbs from trees and doing some damage to buildings.

At August Wittke’s farm south of Sidney, his hay loader, which was hitched to the wagon and rack was badly damaged, the hay rack also being broken to pieces.  His barn and silo also were considerably damaged.  A large elm tree in front of Mrs. Ida Hommel’s house on Grand Ave. was blown down so that it fell on the house.  One of the large elms across the street on the Kurt Listeman lawn was also damaged.
