Bennett, Athalie #2 (27 OCT 1914 - 11 JULY 2010)

 

Athalie L. Bennett, 95, Loyal, died on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., on Friday, July 16, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, with visitation from 4-7 p.m. Burial will take place in the Greenwood City Cemetery at a later date.

 

Athalie Lucille Larson was born on Oct. 27, 1914, in Silvas, Ill., to Richard E. and Martha (nee Schultz) Larson. At the age of 4, her family moved to a farm northeast of Greenwood, where she was raised an received her education. As a young woman, she moved to the Milwaukee area where she worked and received her training as a licensed nurse practitioner. She later worked for Eau Claire County at the Mt. Washington Sanatorium, then at the Norwood Health Center in Marshfield, and finally at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, until retiring in 1981. She resided in Loyal until entering the nursing home in October 2008. She was honored in 1999 as the Loyal Citizen of the Year. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, riding bicycle, birds and cleaning the city park in the spring.

 

Survivors include one son, Glen (Pat) Bennett, Loyal; three grandchildren, Jacob (jeana) Bennett, Loyal, Jennifer (Aaron) Heeg, Arpin, and Haeli (Dan) Gell, Spencer; five great-grandchildren, Jordon, Alex, Bradyn, Ava and Rydge Athalie; two sisters, Kay (Elmer) Powers, Silver Creek, Neb., and Julie (Earl) Schamehorn, Redlands, Calif.; and one brother, Dennis Larson, Loyal.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents, and one brother, Richard.

 

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that memorials be given to the Clark County Health Care Center Memorial Garden.
