Adolph Ludwig Franz, son of the late August K. and Alvina Noah Franz, was born March 10, 1896, in the Town of Warner, Clark County.  Here he grew to manhood, receiving his education in the Decker School and later became a cheesemaker in this community.

He was called into the service of his country during World War I and served overseas.  On his return, he and his brother Fred took up farming at Sidney, Mont., until July 1946 when he was stricken with a stroke that left him a wheelchair patient for the rest of his life.

He passed away at the Greenwood Nursing Home, Portland, Oregon, June 20th, 1967.  The body was brought to the Hill Funeral Home where it lay in state from Sunday until Monday, June 26th, when it was taken to the Immanuel United Church of Christ.  Services were held here at 2:00 p.m. Monday, with Rev. David Logue officiating.  Burial was made in the West Side Cemetery.  Military rites were conducted by the Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post 238.
