Erickson, Melvin E. #2 (1 MAY 1883 - 22 MAY 1957)

 

On May 22, 1957, Melvin Erickson passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

 

Mr. Erickson was born May 1st, 1883 at Crete, Wis.  He married Amy Sorenson of Longwood in the year 1913 and to whom one son, Emery, was born.  Mrs. Erickson passed away in 1918.  In 1922 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Estelle Coan, formerly Estelle Masters of Greenwood, in 1922.  They made their home in Longwood and Mr. Erickson operated the Longwood Store from 1913 to 1947.

 

In 1947 the Ericksons moved to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) and he has been employed at the Hardware Specialty until the time of his death.

 

Mr. Erickson was an active, aggressive businessman throughout his life, always participating in projects of civic betterment.  He served as treasurer of the Town of Longwood and as treasurer of the Town of Longwood and as treasurer of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Withee, the Holy Name Society and on the building committee of the Holy Rosary Church of Owen.  He was an ardent baseball fan of many years standing and in late years delighted at the progress of the Milwaukee Braves.

 

He leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. Melvin Erickson, one son Emery of Owen, and a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Elizabeth) Gruzynski of South Bend, Ind.; four brothers and two sisters.

 

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
