Twait, Anna L. #3 (14 SEP 1870 - 19 JUN 1957)

 

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 23, at 1:30 o’clock in the afternoon from the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood, for Mrs. Henry Twait who passed away at her home on Wednesday evening, the 19th of June, 1957, due to old age complications.  She had been in poor health for the last few months.

 

Rev. Tanner officiated at the funeral services.  Mrs. Otto Voie sang two solos, the first one being "Behind the Host in White: in Norwegian, and the second solo in English, "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name."  Mr. Voie was accompanied by Shirley Niemi at the organ.  Interment was made at the church cemetery.  Pallbearers were Mrs. Twait’s six grandsons, Emery and Harold Sorenson, Rolland, Harold and Kenneth Bingham, and Orville Lanser.  In charge of the flowers were Patricia Richers, Freda and Sarah Twait, Mrs. Rosella Morris, Mrs. Harold Bingham and Mrs. Harold Sorenson.

 

Anna Larsena Twait was born Sept. 14th, 1870, near Bergen, Norway.  She was the daughter of Nels and Carrie Nelson.  On Sept. 10th, 1894, she was married to Henry Twait.  Two years later they came to the United States and settled near Ottawa, Ill.  In 1919 they moved to Wisconsin and made their home on a farm two miles east of Longwood, where she lived until her death.  She is survived by five sons, Fred of Lake Forest, Ill.; Silas of Good Hope, Ill.; Nels and Olaf at home, and Elmer in Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. Emil (Martha) Sorenson, Mrs. Vaino (Evelyn) Talso and Elizabeth of Longwood; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  Her husband preceded her in death in Oct. 1950, also one son and three daughters.

 

Mrs. Twait was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Longwood and the Ladies Aid.
