Kozlowski, Catherine A. #2 (20 NOV 1892 - 24 JAN 1957)

 

Mrs. John Kozlowski, 64, died at her home on Jan. 24th, 1957.  Death was due to a heart attack.  Funeral arrangements were made by Griebenow Funeral Home and the services were held by St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp, with Father F. Piekarski officiating.  Burial was made at the new St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Wallace and Andrew Dobrzynski, John Szymanski, John Zdrojkowski, and Alex Badzinski, all from Thorp, and John Kovalowski, Owen.

 

The former Catherine Anne Swienton, was born Nov. 20, 1892 in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Anne and Stanislaus Swienton.  She was married on July 6, 1909 at St. Hedwig’s Church, Thorp, to John Kozlowski.  She was a member of the Altar Society and the Christian Mothers Society.  She received her education in Minneapolis.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Kozlowski were outstanding business people, having operated a general store in Gilman for 12 years and after moving to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) they established the Owen Dry Good Store, and later the Soo Café.  Upon selling the Soo Café, they retired to Wis. Rapids for two years and then returned to this city, purchasing and operating the Fremont Hotel for the past seven years.

 

Mrs. Kozlowski is survived by her husband John, and two sons, Wallace and William, and three daughters, ?, Meach and Alice Kozlowski.
