Lemke, Sherin R. (29 DEC 1956)

Following a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin and Chicago Mr. and Mrs. Robert O. Bowen are at home at 307 West Doty St., Madison.  Their wedding took place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Medford, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. R. E. Aden officiating.

The bride, the former Sherin Rose Lemke, was seen in a crystalette over satin floor length gown.  The bodice had a scooped neckline trimmed with seed pearls and iridescent sequins and the long sleeves came to points at the wrists.  The very full skirt had an all button back closing.  Her imported French illusion veil was trimmed with seed pearls and iridescent sequins.  White roses and white rose buds formed her bouquet and the string of tiny pearls which she wore were a gift from the bridegroom.

The maid of honor, Miss Linda Mueller of Medford and bridesmaid, Miss Idelle Bowen of Curtiss, niece of the bridegroom, wore identical off shoulder dresses of red velvet with draped bodices and very full skirts.  The junior bridesmaid, Patty Lemke, Medford, niece of the bride also wore a red velvet floor length dress with plain bodice and full skirt.  All three aides carried holly trimmed white fur muffs and white fur headpieces.  The pearl necklaces which they wore were gifts of the bride.

Hilarian Michlig of Curtiss attended Mr. Bowen as best man.  Groomsman was David Lemke, brother of the bride, and junior groomsman was David Prohaska, nephew of the bride.  Orlander Ackerman of Curtiss and Russell Lemke, brother of the bride, served as ushers.

The young couple were greeted by 160 friends and relatives at the reception at the American Legion Hall at 4 p.m., and the dance was at Dorchester Memorial Hall in the evening.

Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Hans Nielson and family, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Buss, Birnamwood; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lemke and family, Mosinee; Miss Pat Ross, and Mrs. Lueck, Madison.

Mrs. Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lemke of Medford, graduated from the Medford High School in June of 1956 and is employed at Madison.  Mr.  Bowen, son of Harlow and Ethel Bowen of Curtiss, graduated from the Abbotsford High School in 1951 and spent three years in the U.S. Coast Guards.  He is attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Stan, would it be possible for you to correct the misinformation in the attached document? In the last paragraph the family name or Sherin Rose Lemke is Lemke. Also in the last paragraph Mr. Bowen is the son of Harlow and Ethel Bowen.

Today is the 58th anniversary of my marriage to Sherin. As time permits you may wish to peruse her website at www.sherinbowen.com for details on how events in March 2009 changed the significance of December 29, 1956.

Thank you. Bob Bowen
