Hirt, Rita V. (26 DEC 1956)

Honeymooning in Minneapolis and Wisconsin are Mr. and Mrs. Dale E. Jakel, who nuptial vows were heard by the Rev. J. Klawitter in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, on Wednesday, Dec. 26th, 1956.

Before her marriage the bride was Miss Rita Virginia Hirt, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis G. Hirt of Medford.

Her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas George, also of Medford, were the best man and matron of honor, and the bridegroom’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jakel, were the groomsman and bridesmaid.  The Jakel brothers are residents of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.).

A floor length gown of Chantilly lace was worn by the bride, who selected red faille for her attendants.  The lace bodice of her gown trimmed with iridescent sequins and featured a Sabrina neckline and long tapering sleeves.  The full taffeta skirt was topped with a wide pleated cummerbund fastened in a bow in the back.

An embroidered lace pillbox hat accented with pearls and sequins held her illusion veil, and on the lace covered prayer book which she carried, were fastened red camellias and carnations with feather carnations knotted in the streamers.

Carrying out the holiday theme, corsages of poinsettias were attached to the white satin and lace muffs to match their waltz length frocks.  They wore feathered hats set with pearls to match carried by her attendants.

Following the wedding, a reception and dinner were held in the American Legion Hall in Medford.

Present for the day’s events were the following from out of town: Miss Joan Hirt and James Oehler, Appleton; Robert Jacket, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lyle Cathcart, Abbotsford; Dennis Jakel, Wausau; Mr. Miss Marlene Strebe, Marshfield and Mrs. Joe Gruny, Baraboo, and Mr. Lyle Johnson, Curtiss.

On their return from the wedding trip, the newlyweds will take up residence in Stevens Point, where the bridegroom is attending Central State College.  His is a graduate of Abbotsford High School and is a U.S. Navy veteran.  His bride, who was employed by Universal Paper Co. prior to her married, is a Medford High School graduate.
