Peissig, Margaret Mary (Geiger) (October 27, 1929 - May 10, 2010) 
 

Margaret Mary Peissig, 80, Dorchester, died Monday, May 10 at St. Clare's Hospital in Weston, surrounded by her family.  
 

A funeral mass will be held Friday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, with Father James Schaefer of Wausau, and Father Nathan and Father Enrique of Dorchester officiating.

 
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, May 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a parish rosary and prayer vigil at 5 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

 
The former Margaret Geiger was born October 27, 1929 in the Town of Mayville to the late Michael and Amelia (Lang) Geiger.  
 

She attended St. Louis Catholic Grade School in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1947.

 
On June 13, 1951 at St. Louis Catholic Church, she married Donald C. Peissig, who survives.  
 

They farmed with his father in Stetsonville until 1959 when they purchased the family farm in Dorchester from her father. She was a cook for over 25 years at Memorial Hall in Dorchester and also cooked for the Dorchester Lions Club for more than 10 years.

 
She was a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church where she was an active member and volunteer. In recognition of her many contributions and volunteerism, she was awarded the Woman of Light Award in 2006 by the Thorp Deanery, Diocese of La Crosse. She and her sister-in-law, Gerry Geiger, started the Lucky 13 Homemakers Club in Dorchester, and served as a 4-H leader for the Pleasant Pals 4-H Club in Dorchester. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her flower beds and gardens. She also enjoyed oil painting, ceramic doll making, sewing, quilting, crafting, and making corn husk dolls, fall flower arrangements and wreaths.

 
In addition to her husband, survivors include eight children, Donna (Fred) Hix of Greenbrier, Tenn., Tom (Peggy) and Mark (Terri), both of Dorchester, Mary (Allen) Krueger of Wausau, Susan (Michael) Ertl of Waunakee, Jeff (Julie) of Menomonie, Gene (Joan) of Abbotsford, and Ann (Patrick) Ertl of Minocqua; seven brothers and sisters, Norbert (Gerry), Dave (Carol), Cyril and Therese Geiger, all of Dorchester, Mark (Lois) of Richfield, Paul (Pat) of St. Germain, and Jane (Dick) Austin of Auburndale; 22 grandchildren, Jake (Tolea) Peissig and Jedd Peissig, both of Athens, Dr. Andy (Dr. Nicole Peterman) Ertl of Milwaukee, Cortney (Brandon) Lupp of Fayetteville, Ark., Dr. Kelly Krueger of Indianapolis, Ind., Natalie (Chad Bradford) Hix-Bradford of Homewood, Ala., Kyle Krueger and Evan Peissig. both of Madison, Alison Ertl of Waunakee, Dr. Grant Peissig, Josh Peissig, Katelyn Peissig and Eric Peissig, all of Menomonie, Whitney Peissig and Anna Peissig, both of River Falls, Emily, Tim and Logan Peissig, all of Dorchester, Zach Peissig of Abbotsford, and Payton, Beau and Max Ertl, all of Minocqua; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Lupp of Fayetteville. 
 

Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Dorchester assisted the family with arrangements.
