Grammer, Mary D. #3 (1 AUG 1956)

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Grammer, route 1, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Harley German, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), were seated in the front pews of St. John’s Catholic Church, Wuertzburg, for the marriage ceremony Wednesday, Aug. 1st, 1956, of their daughter and son.  The Rev. Father Burggraf officiated at the 9:00 o’clock nuptials and Mass which followed.

As Miss Mary Dora Grammar knelt before the altar to exchange vows with Warren Alfred german, she was wearing a floor length gown of permanent pleated tulle and lace.  Pleated tulle formed the off the shoulder bodice which fell into tiny sleeves, and was repeated in the skirt from just below the hipline.  An accent of lace extended from the midriff to the tulle portion of the skirt.  Mother of pearl sequins sparkled on the crown headpiece which held her fingertip veil edged with lace.  In her crescent shaped bouquet she had Rubrum lilies, pale pink roses and stephanotis arranged.

The groom’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin German of Medford, attended them as the honor couple.  They were assisted in their duties by two cousins of the bride, Miss Jean Helen Lord of Clintonville, and Miss Josephine Jahnke, Marshfield; and Neal Melvin, cousin of the groom from Abbotsford, and Dale Thompson, a friend from Curtiss.  Also in the wedding group were Richard Grammer, Colby, and Archie Melvin, Abbotsford, the ushers.

Elaine Kalsershot, cousin of the bride from Marathon City, and Dennis Grammer, the bride’s brother, Colby, were the miniature attendants.  Elaine’s floor length white dress was also designed with short sleeves and an off the shoulder scoop neckline.  Her headpiece and flowers were similar to the older attendants’.

For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Grammer selected a pale rose dress with white accessories and yellow roses.  Mrs. German wore a medium blue dress, also with white accessories and pink roses.

The bridal party and immediate families were served dinner at the bride’s home where a reception and supper were held later.  At the upper places were laid for relatives and friends from Wausau, Merrill, Marshfield, Clintonville, Owen, Unity, Spencer, Marathon City, Milwaukee, Abbotsford, Athens, Edgar, Fenwood, Black River Falls, Medford, Curtiss, Milan and Butler.

Both graduates of the Abbotsford High School, the newlyweds will live near Curtiss.  Mr. German and his bride are currently honeymooning in Texas and Mexico; when they return he will continue his work at E. J. Crane and Sons, Abbotsford.
