Vandeberg, Alice (25 OCT 1947)

The Lutheran parsonage here was the scene of the late fall wedding of Miss Alice Vandeberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Vandeberg of Loyal, and Emil Piper of Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Piper of Downers Grove, Ill., at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. The Rev. J. C. Langholz, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran church, officiated.

The bride was dressed in a gray gabardine suit, with black accessories, for her wedding. She carried a bouquet of white and pink roses. Her sister, Miss Jeanette Vandeberg. acted as maid of honor, and she wore a brown wool crepe suit, with brown accessories. She carried white, purple and yellow chrysanthemums.

The groom was attended by a friend, William B. Churkey of Owen, who acted as best man.

Supper was served at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony, with about 25 immediate relatives and friends present. The dining room was decorated with pink, blue and white streamers, with a white bell in the center. The table was decorated with white candles, with a wedding cake as center piece.

A dance was held the following night at the Merry Ol’ Gardens dance hall in Longwood. They spent a week’s wedding trip to Illinois.

Those from away who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen and daughter, Carole, and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Missling and son of Withee, Verlyn Vandeberg of Alden, Il., and son and John Wepling of Owen.

The groom, who is engaged in farming near Owen served for three years in the armed forces. His bride, who graduated from the Withee high school I 1945, has been employed at the Adler pastry shoppe in Marshfield.

To the newlyweds, The Loyal Tribune extends its wishes for a long and happy married life.
