Legue, Gislene (14 OCT 1947)

Miss Gislene Mary Legue of Couvin, Belgium, became the bride of George J. Schlagenhaft Jr., of Loyal during a double-ring ceremony at St. Anthony’s Catholic church. The Rev. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer celebrated the nuptial high mass at 8#0 a.m. Tuesday.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Schlagenhaft Sr. of this village, met his Belgian bride in 1944, when he was stationed in that country. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rene Legue of Treignes, Belgium.

The couple was attended by the groom’s sister and brother, Margaret and Robert Schlagenhaft.

The bride wore an entrained white satin gown styled with a gathered skirt, full-length front panel, and long sleeves, pointed at the wrist. Her fingertip veil was attached to an orange blossom headdress. She carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations.

Miss Schlagenhaft, as maid of honor, wore a gown of pink nylon marquisette, fashioned with a bodice of lace over satin. A matching blusher veil and a bouquet of white and pink carnations completed her attire.

Breakfast was served to the bridal party at the home of the groom’s parents. Dinner and supper were served to 40 guests.

Out of town guests here for the wedding were: Mrs. John Deckert of Wiscansin Dells. Mrs. Joe Fischer of Milwaukee, Mrs. Donald Van Schoyk of Madison, Mrs. Laurir Simolke and son Gilbert, of Strattford and Gene Schlagenhaft, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schlagenhaft and daughter, Jane, Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Schlagenhaft and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Merkel, Miss Dolores Doherty and August Schlegenhaft and daughters, Dorothy and Betty, all of Marshfield.

After a week’s wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Schlagenhaft are now making their home in Loyal, where Mr. Schlagenhaft is employed as a mason.

The Loyal Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long and happy journey through life.
