McMahon, Bridget (Mrs. John) (15 Jun 1827 - 9 Jan 1913)

Died - Mrs. John McMahon at Greenwood on Jan. 9, 1913, aged eighty-five years, five months and twenty-four days.  Her maiden name was Bridget Fahey and she was born at Portmemna, County Galway, Ireland, on June 15, 1827.  She emigrated to Canada with her parents in 1840 and she was married to John McMahon in 1846.  She and her husband and family moved to Clark county, Wisconsin, in 1871, where she has since resided.  Two sons and five daughters survive her.  They are Mrs. John Shanks of Greenwood, Mrs. H.M. Root of Neillsville, Mrs. John Stewart of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Geo. Meade of Prescott, Arizona, and Mrs. Jerry Sullivan of Westboro, Thomas of Prescott, Arizona, and Eugene of Greenwood.  She is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.  The writer has known the deceased for over forty years and during his long life has never met with a more lovely character.  Grandma McMahon, as she was familiarly called, was beloved by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. She was buried in St. Mary’s cemetery, Neillsville, last Saturday.
