Last Sunday George Ure ran up against a circumstance that would test even the nerve of a candidate.  George was autoing peaceably along the road north of Globe when a family of skunks pre-empted the right of way.  Following the papa and mama skunk 8 or 14 young skunks stepped into the road just ahead of George’s car, and when he caught sight of the crowd, George put on the emergency brake.  He tooted the horn, yelled and gave the candidate sign of distress, but the skunks paid no attention to him, but on the contrary they started up the road in his direction.  The whole damn family lined up in battle array.  Just at the point when George was seriously considering abandoning the car and taking to the woods, a culvert in the road attracted the attention of the old lady skunk and she dropped out of sight, immediately followed by the rest of the family.  Geo. heaved a sigh of relieve and hit a 60 mile clip for town.  George figured that the inherent odor of an automobile was sufficient without running the chance of trying to improve it with other foreign fumes.
