White, Melva (19 APR 1947)

Choosing Apr. 19 as her wedding day, Miss Melva Jean White, daughter of James White of route one, Greenwood, exchanged wedding vows with Harold O. Hendrickson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Hendrickson of Greenwood, in the Loyal Methodist church. The Rev. Lee H. Holmes officiated at the double ring ceremony performed at 2 p.m.

The church altar was decorated with bouquets of cut flowers. Mrs. Henry Olson sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly," with Mrs. Arnold Wichland playing the accompaniment and the wedding marches.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a taffeta and marquisette gown, designed with a net overskirt, flowing into a full train. The bodice was designed with a round neckline and a peplum at the waist. The long sleeves came to points over the wrists. A seed pearl and rhinestone headdress held her fingertip veil of illusion, and she carried a bouquet of white lilies and red roses, tied with a large white bow and satin streamers. Her three tiered strand pearl necklace was a gift of the groom.

Mrs. Oril Swieso of Rockford, Ill., a cousin of the groom, wearing a white organdy frock and a matching veil, served as matron of honor. Miss Elaine White of Neillsville, in a white organdy gown, with a matching veil caught to a wreath of flowers was her sister;s bridesmaid. Their bouquets were similar to the one carried by the bride.

Oril Swieso of Rockford, Ill., and George White of Greenwood, cousins of the bride, attended the groom. The men wore blue suits, with white carnation boutonieres.

Following the ceremony, a 7 o’clock dinner was served to 50 guests at the Turco café in Greenwood. A three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom ornament, centered the table. A wedding dance was held that evening at the Merry Ol’ Gardens in Longwood.

Mrs. Hendrickson was graduated from the Loyal high school, the class of 1946. The bridegroom served with the armed forces for 38 months, of which 33 months were spent overseas. He received his discharge on Nov. 14, 1945.

Mr. and Mrs. Hendrickson will reside on a farm with the groom’s parents.

The Loyal Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long and happy journey through life.
