Hagie, Edward (21 May 1895 - 11 July 1958) 
 

Edward Hagie, 63, of Neillsville died July 11, at Memorial Hospital from a heart condition.  Funeral services were held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. Albert Guthmiller, pastor of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiating.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.   
 

Mr. Hagie was born May 21, 1895, at Heber Springs, Ark., son of the late Eugene and Lounette (Gear) Hagie.  His family came to Clark County when he was two years of age, and located on a farm in the Town of Washburn.  He worked as a blacksmith with his father. 
 

He was married November 3, 1919, to the former Amelia Cardarelle. They moved to North Dakota, where they farmed and where Mr. Hagie followed the blacksmith trade for three years.  They returned to the Town of Washburn and after the death of his father, continued the operation of the blacksmith shop near the Shortville Store.  After 25 years he retired due to poor health and moved to Neillsville.   
 

He was a fire warden for the state conservation department for many years, and also served several terms on the school board.  He was a member of the Congregational Church. 
 

He is survived by his wife and four children: Mrs. Thomas (Mary Lou) Meredith, Neillsville; Douglas, Topeka, Kans.; Gordon, Milwaukee; and John, Marshfield. Three sisters, Mrs. Effie Cooper, Mrs. Ella Boldt and Mrs. Cora Goels, all of Milwaukee, and two brothers, Floyd of Neillsville and Charles of Hartland, also survive.  He also leaves a granddaughter. 
 

Pallbearers were: Ragnar Mortenson, Soren Larsen, Irving Stevens, Ernest Ulrich, Frank Short and Paul Keller. Two hymns, "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and O Love That Will Not Let Me Go," were sung by Mrs. B. H. Crissinger and Mrs. R. D. Peters, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.
