Hiles, Otto A. (28 November 1872 - 6 July 1958) 
 

Otto A. Hiles, 85, of Neillsville, died Sunday, July 6, following a lingering illness.  Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Bergemann Funeral Home. The Rev. Albert Guthmiller, pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed church, officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mr. Hiles was born November 28, 1872, at Viroqua, son of the later John and Adeline (Gillette) Hiles.  He received his education in Viroqua and later became an engineer for the Wisconsin Central railroad.  On November 5, 1898, he was married to the former Lilla Bryan at Sparta.  She preceded him in death on February 17, of this year. 
 

The family lived in Merrill for a few years, coming to Neillsville where he operated the old Badger Theater.  They also operated a theater at Greenwood for many years. 
 

In 1916 they moved onto a farm in the Town of Grant and farmed for several years before retiring.  In later years, his hobby was making fishing flies.  Mr. Hiles was a great outdoors man and was a member of the Methodist church. 
 

He is survived by three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and by two brothers, Harold Hiles, South Gate, Calif., and Lloyd Hiles of Chicago, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Alma Martin, Arcadia, Calif.
