Smolne, Sophie (17 April 1867 - 14 June 1957) 
 

A former Neillsville resident, Mrs. Sophie Smolne, 90, died June 14, at Owen.  The Rev. Jacob Grether officiated at services held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home.  Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Smolne was born April 17, 1867, in Germany.  She received her education in that country and following her marriage to Paul Smolne in 1885, they came to the United States with a family of three children, locating on a farm in Clark County in 1891.  They later moved to Neillsville, which has been their home since. 
 

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. George (Amalia) Schoentgen, Algonquin, Ill.; Miss Anna Smolne, Chicago; Miss Tenja Smolne, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Ida Bishop, La Crosse; and by two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 17 for Mrs. Sophia Smolne, who died June 14, at Owen, from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Jacob Grether officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Pallbearers were: Byron Mund, Fred Subke, J. N. Jenkins, Edward DeMert, Roy Adams and Frank Miller. 
 

Those from away attending were: Mrs. George P. (Amelia) Schoentgen, Algonquin, Ill.; Miss Anna Smolne, Chicago; Mrs. Ida Bishop, Miss Helen Jostad, La Crosse.
