Johnson, Josephine (9 May 1877 - 23 November 1956) 
 

Mrs. Peter Johnson, 79, of 121 Grand Avenue, Neillsville, died early Friday morning at the Neillsville Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for the past several weeks. 
 

Mrs. Johnson, the former Josephine Rude, daughter of the late John H. and Martha (Strande) Rude, was born May 9, 1877, in Neillsville. She received her education in the Neillsville public schools and prior to her marriage to Peter Johnson she worked as a practical nurse in this community. She was a lifelong resident of Neillsville.  Mrs. Johnson was a member of Carmi Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star, and also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73. 
 

She is survived by two brothers, George Rude and John Rude, both of Neillsville. 
 

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Bergemann Funeral Home.  Eastern Star rites were conducted by members of Carmi Chapter.  Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  Members of the Eastern Star taking part were: Worthy Matron, Mrs. A. W. Holt; Worthy Patron, Sam Ray; Chaplain, Mrs. A. W. Unger; Ada, Mrs. Constance Holum; Ruth, Mrs. Eleanor Rosenberg, Esther, Mrs. Dorene Harvey; Martha, Mrs. Nora Ylvisaker; Electa, Mrs. Iris Randall. 
 

Pallbearers were: John Gullickson, John Mattson, Charles Poole, Nick Scherer, John Seif and Elliott Warlum. 
 

Out of town relatives here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. William Stucki, Madison; Mrs. August Kuehl, Miss Esther Kuehl, and Clara Knoop, all of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. William Weast, Greenwood.
