Hopfensperger, Ervin (21 February 1918 - 29 March 1956) 
 

Funeral services for Mr. Hopfensperger, 38, were held Monday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church here, with the Rev. Fr. Peter Leketas in charge.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery.  The body lay in state at the Bergemann Funeral Home from Saturday noon until the time of services.  A general Rosary was said Sunday evening. 
 

Death came in a hospital at Rochester, Minn., where he was rushed last week Thursday after becoming seriously ill while at work the day before. Death was reportedly due to a brain tumor. 
 

The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hopfensperger, he was born February 21, 1918, in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County.  He grew to manhood there and received his education at St. Andrew’s parochial school at Rozelleville.  
 

He served for a year and one-half in the CCC camp located in the Eagle River area, and later worked in a cheese factory.  He later worked in photography for five years. 
 

Mr. Hopfensperger was married November 15, 1938, to Alma Rahm of Rozelleville.  In 1942 they moved onto their farm in the town of Sherwood.  For the past 11 years he was employed as a grader patrolman for the county highway department.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Neillsville. 
 

He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Sue, at home; his father, William Hopfensperger of Rozelleville; and the following brothers and sisters: Max Hopfensperger, Stevens Point; Mrs. William (Mamie) Stuhr, Harry Hopfensperger both of Stratford; Bernard Hopfensperger, Mosinee; Mrs. Alex (Hattie) Wagner, Fenwood; Mrs. George (Mabel) Truetel and Harvey Hopfensperger, both of Stratford. 
 

The Clark County Highway Department attended the services in a group. 
 

Pallbearers were: Earl Darling, Frank Matousek, Robert Mortenson, Louis Paun, Louis and Robert Zschernitz.
