Szymonowicz, Cindy L. (September 21, 1954 - November 29, 2009)

Cindy Szymonowicz, 55 of Pengilly died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 in Methodist Hospital in Rochester. She was born Sept. 21, 1954 in Cloquet to Kenneth and Ethel Poppe. Cindy graduated from Cloquet High School in 1972. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education and her Masters Degree from UWS. On May 30, 1980 Cindy married John Szymonowicz in Cloquet. They made their home in Superior. Cindy was a 6th grade teacher at St. James Elementary School in Duluth until 1995 when she moved to Pengilly and worked as a school counselor for the Hibbing School District.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Ethel Poppe.

She is survived by her husband, John of Pengilly; brothers, Dale Poppe of Sturgeon Lake and Gary (Evelyn) Poppe of Merced, Calif.; one niece and two nephews; and her beloved golden retrievers, Szysco and Zoey.
