James L. Fullington, 73, of Gilman, Wisconsin, and formerly of Taylor and Merrillan, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at his home. 
 

James was born on February 19, 1936, in Merrillan, Wisconsin, to parents George and Vera (Barrett) Fullington.  He graduated from high school and served in the U. S. Marine Corps in Korea, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. 
 

On November 11, 1961, he married Sharon Krieger in West Allis, Wisconsin. 
 

James was employed as a truck driver for Ryder Truck Lines for eighteen years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 200 and served as union steward for many years.  While driving truck, he farmed in the Taylor area and purchased a farm in the Tilman area three years ago.  
 

His favorite past-times included farming, and tinkering and fixing things.  He also enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, family camping, bird watching and playing horseshoes.  He was a loyal Packer and Badger fan.  He enjoyed spending time playing cards and cribbage and visiting with family and friends, especially laughing and kidding with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed caring for his faithful canine companions, Bell and Kirby.   
 

James is survived by his wife, Sharon; two sons: Don Fullington of Whitehall and Robert (Michanda) Fullington of Fountain City; two daughters: Patricia (William) Fullington-Knutson of Taylor and Carol (Jim)) Guentner of Lublin; four brothers: Doug (Lois) Fullington of Spokane, Washington, Cliff (Irene) Fullington of Eau Claire, Floyd (Ruth) Fullington of Sun City, Arizona and Danny Fullington of South Milwaukee; one sister, Shirley Johnson of Alma Center; a sister-in-law, Donna Dilbeck of Fort Branch, Indiana; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Bernard and Patrick Fullington; sister, Lorraine Berg and sister-in-law, Joan Fullington. 
 

Funeral services for James L. Fullington were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009, at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, with Reverend Meg Erickson officiating and Military rites by the Alma Center VFW Post #8494.  Burial of ashes will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.   Friends called at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home on Friday from noon until the time of services. 
 

Honorary bearers were: James Guentner Jr., Carrie Guentner, Benjamin Guentner, Allyson Guentner, Anthony Guentner, Cody Skorstad, Tanner Darmofal, Mason Fullington, Madyson Fullington and Jeremy Knutson.
