Hagen, Gustave Ernest (28 November 1876 - 13 October 1954) 
 

Gustave Ernest Hagen, 77, of 703 E. 5th Street Neillsville, died Wednesday, October 13, at the new Memorial Hospital from complications. 
 

Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the Bergemann Funeral Home.  The Rev. Virgil Nulton, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.   
 

Mr. Hagen was born November 28, 1876, in Germany.  He came to this country with his parents when he was five years of age.  They settled in Marathon County near Medford, where he received his education in the public school.  He worked in the woods at logging until 46 years ago. Then he moved to Neillsville, where he worked on the railroad.  He was forced by illness to quit his job and later worked for the city of Neillsville until two years ago, when he retired.   
 

Mr. and Mrs. Hagen celebrated their golden wedding last March.  
 

He was one of the patients moved from the old hospital to the Memorial Hospital earlier the day of his death. 
 

He was married March 29, 1904, at Neillsville to Ida Rodman, who survives him.  Surviving also are one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Irene) Johlke of Milwaukee; two sons, Ernest of the Town of York and Vernon of Milwaukee; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, William Hagen of West Allis. 
 

His parents and one brother preceded him in death. 
 

Randy Briggs, as vocalist, sang two selections, accompanied by Mrs. Virgil Nulton at the organ. 
 

Pallbearers were: Edwin Gall, Ray Noll, George Campbell, Neal Trogner, Leonard Wachholz and Henry Naedler. 
 

Out of town relatives and friends attending the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Warner Rodman, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rodman, all of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. R. Rodman, Milwaukee; Ernest Hagen of the Town of York; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Johlke and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hagen of Milwaukee.
