Naedler, Merline (Marriage - 26 December 1953)

Miss Merline Naedler of Neillsville Rte 1 and Donald Peacock of La Crosse were married December 26, in a candlelight ceremony at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Alfred Schewe performing the double ring ceremony.  The church was beautifully decorated with poinsettias and small white Christmas trees - in keeping with the season.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, Hilbert Naedler, wore the traditional white satin and lace with a finger-tip veil of illusion net.  She carried a bouquet of white orchid and stephanotis on a white prayer book.

Fern Naedler, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Edris Haack, a cousin, served as bridesmaid.

Lyle Peacock and Robert Krause of La Crosse were the groom’s best men.  Richard Schield and Raymond Lundberg, La Crosse, ushered.

Following the ceremony a reception was held for approximately 75 guests at the home of the bride.  The Christmas theme was carried out in the decorations of the house.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School with the class of 1952, and has attended La Crosse State College.  The groom was graduated in 1950 from Central High in La Crosse, and has also attended La Crosse State College. At present he is in the army.  He is a member of the Lamba Lau Gamma Fraternity.

After December 30, they will be at home at 1805 Newton St. N. W. Washington, D. C.

The following from out of town attended the ceremony: Mr. and Mrs. Verne Peacock and Gene, George Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Larsen, Mrs. Donald Hjalle, Mr. and Mrs. Selmer Strand, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Highberg and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Hemp, Jr., all of La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Highberg and daughter, Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wilson, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Naedler, St. Paul; and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Nanstad of Blair.
