Johnson, Harry (29 OCT 1900 - 7 OCT 1954)

 

Harry Johnson, town of Aurora farmer, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1954, at the Victory memorial Hospital in Stanley.  He was 53 years old.

 

Mr. Johnson had farmed in the Gilman area (Taylor Co., Wis.) for the past 24 years.  He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran congregation of the Yellow River district in the town of Aurora and served as the parish treasurer for many years.

 

He was born at Holmquist, S.D., on Nov. 29, 1900, and was married to Minnie Rasmussen at Minneapolis, Minn., Nov. 23, 1924.  They moved to Milwaukee in 1930 and later came to settle in the Gilman area.

 

The deceased is survived by his wife, Minnie, a daughter Audrey, Mrs. Ted Iwaszko, Minneapolis, Minn., a son Donald of Gilman, and two grandchildren, Becky and Kathy Johnson, Gilman.  Sisters surviving include Mrs. Julius Olsager, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Jeff Locken, San Gabriel, Calif.; Mrs. Art Stengel, Mrs. Minnie Wallace and Miss Pauline Johnson, all of Chicago, Ill.; and surviving brothers are Ruben, Joseph and Gutfred Johnson, all of St. Cloud, Minn.; Hjalmar Johnson of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Arthur Johnson of St. Cloud, Minn.

 

Last rites for the deceased were conducted Monday, Oct. 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Yellow River, with Rev. John Alver of Cornell officiating.  Interment was made in the Gilman Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Horace Gonstead, Marvin Rued, Felix Kondrasuk, Ruel Thompson, Arnie Bjerke and Henry Podalak.
